Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Lab Revenue Cycle Specialist coordinates all activities related to the revenue generating tasks associated with a laboratory outreach patient encounter. Duties include training lab registration staff, monitoring performance, correcting errors, and providing feedback to staff. Identifies and resolves problems related to patient registration and laboratory billing. Maintains the laboratory provider index to assure results are accurately disseminated.
Essential Job Functions
•Reviews lab encounters for appropriate demographic, insurance and testing information.
•Screens encounters for valid /ICD-10 diagnosis codes and makes appropriate requests from client for any encounters which need reviewed for valid ICD-10 following compliance guidelines.
•Gathers information from direct contact with providers and billing partner.
•Completes timely and accurate working of worklists and hold files daily as determined by billing partner.
•Through a variety of methods, gathers billing information and analyzes information for accuracy.
•Works with other departments requesting information as needed.
Answers all telephone, email, mail, etc.
•Analyzes and resolves patient billing issues that may arise in a timely and accurate manner using excellent customer service.
•Performs other duties as assigned by System Director Laboratory Outreach, within specified timeframe.

1-2 years' experience in billing or insurance, preferably in lab billing (required)
