Job summary

Qualifications

• B.S. in a STEM discipline is required.
• 3–4 years of relevant work experience is required.
• Must have a safe work history and safe-work ethic (safety sensitive).
• Ability to follow processes and procedures implicitly.
• Ability to lift 5-gallon containers (~45 pounds).
• Must be comfortable standing and working in a lab for long periods.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience using common hand tools (torque wrench, drill).
• Strong verbal and written communication with stakeholders and co-workers.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Operates bench-scale equipment and conducts lab activities such as blending, filtrations, reactions, and distillations.
• Supports assembly, operation, and maintenance of experimental systems in the Ames Technology Center (ATC).
• Assists in design, selection, development and commissioning of new lab equipment and capabilities.
• Adheres to lab process safety and OE programs and coordinates with HSE and P&PD co-workers.
• Manages multiple tasks under deadlines with independence and accountability.
• Handles hazardous materials (flammables, high-pressure gases, acids, bases) with PPE provided/required.
• Communicates progress of projects and experiments in a timely, accurate manner.
• Contributes to development, troubleshooting, and scale-up of manufacturing processes.
