Washington University in St. Louis in Saint Louis, MO, invites applications for a Research Technician I in the Holtz laboratory. The role supports molecular biology, microbiology, virology, epidemiology, metagenomic sequencing and bioinformatics on infant gut development studies.

You will assist with experiments, data collection, sample management and lab maintenance under supervision, contributing to a translational project on environmental exposure effects on the infant gut microbiome.

Responsibilities

• Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including data collection, solution preparation and equipment setup.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Provides data entry and current data files on research projects; monitors data for quality.
• Ensures safety procedures and maintains documentation on laboratory conditions.
• Learns new techniques as needed.
• Manages thousands of stored human samples.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
