Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis in Saint Louis, MO seeks a Research Technician I for the Holtz laboratory to support studies at the intersection of molecular biology, microbiology, virology and bioinformatics.

The role involves assisting with experiments, data collection, and maintaining lab records and samples. The incumbent will work under supervision, learn new techniques, and ensure safety and compliance in a busy research environment with access to extensive resources and collaboration

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
• No specific work experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Provides data entry and current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
• Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
• Learns new techniques as needed.
• Manages thousands of stored human samples.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
