Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a laboratory research support role in the Saddawi Laboratory at UCSD. The incumbent will assist in launching and running a tumor-immunology research program focused on head and neck cancer, working with mouse models, human biospecimens, and spatial profiling.

The role combines hands-on experiments with lab organization, safety coordination, purchasing, inventory management, and training support for staff.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge of biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology or related field.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with sterile technique and relevant cellular, molecular, tissue, microscopy, or animal-research methods.
• Ability to follow and accurately document research protocols and maintain records.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in a diverse team.
• Willingness to learn new methods and contribute to a collaborative lab culture.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch and daily operation of the Saddawi Laboratory.
• Perform established experimental procedures.
• Coordinate safety, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Assist with animal-colony support and lab documentation.
• Provide training support to lab personnel.
