Job summary

Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA, is seeking a Research Assistant I (temporary) to support the Chanda Lab's high-throughput anti-tumor and auto-immune drug discovery efforts. The role involves executing assays, cloning, cell culture, and data handling in a fast-paced team environment.

Applicants should have a BS in a related field and 1–3 years' experience with mammalian cells and molecular cloning; strong communication skills are essential, along with references.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
• 1–3 years of related experience.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture is required.
• Experience with molecular cloning is preferred.
• Experience with database interfaces and data analysis using Excel and Prism is preferred.
• Experience with automated liquid handling instruments is a plus.
• Experience with gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR, NGS, etc.) is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required.

Responsibilities

• Molecular cloning.
• Human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents.
• Lentivirus production.
• Execute high-throughput assays for screening campaigns.
• Data analysis and lab notebook documentation.
• Attention to detail, manual dexterity, troubleshooting and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
