Job summary

SGS is seeking a project manager to lead LIMS, lab implementation, and related QA initiatives in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will drive plans, align stakeholders, and ensure projects stay within scope and budget.

You will coordinate across laboratory teams, manage vendor relationships, and oversee client-facing deliverables. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or closely related field.
• 2+ years of laboratory experience.
• Effective problem prevention and problem-solving skills.
• Written and verbal communication skills necessary to cross multiple disciplines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Proficiency with LIMS and Client Portal systems.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee and participate in execution of LIMS, operations, quality and client service projects.
• Monitor project progress and deliver status reports, timelines, issues, risks and actions to stakeholders.
• Develop and participate in project plan for lab implementation of LIMS system.
• Lead operational projects (including new laboratory builds) to meet deliverables.
• Understand project rationale, regulations and client/lab methods used to produce results.
• Coordinate implementation of quality software across all food laboratories and manage enhancements.
• Perform technical review of incoming work.
• Manage vendors for sub-contracted work and options for additional vendors.
• Lead all aspects of RFPs to deliver quality products by client deadlines.
