Ohio State University is seeking a Lab Processing Technician for the Histology Laboratory. This evening role requires collaboration with Lead Histology Technologists to assist with laboratory functions, including covering slides, managing samples, and general cleaning.
Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED. The position operates Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Ackerman Rd location. The university is an equal opportunity employer.
Position Summary
Laboratory Processing Technician to work in the Histology Laboratory under the direct supervision of Lead Histology Technologists and functional supervision from higher level laboratory staff. Responsibilities include cover slipping of slides for viewing under microscopes, collating and organizing paperwork accompanying slides, packing, unpacking, sorting and transporting samples and slides to assigned locations, and assisting with general laboratory functions. The role also involves performing general cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments, managing tissue cassette receipt, block and slide send‑out, tracking using Beaker barcode scanning, providing customer service related duties such as answering telephone/email inquiries, entering manual orders, and resolving problems from department staff and pathologists. Additionally, duties include numerically pulling and/or filing paraffin blocks, assisting with daily maintenance and reagent changes on staining and processing equipment, sorting slides by case, and ensuring accurate delivery to scanning or to case pathologist. Other duties as needed.
