Position Summary

This role involves preparing and processing tissue specimens in the Histology Laboratory, with minimal direct supervision. The technician is responsible for:

• Process, embed, cut and stain tissue specimens in a high‑volume patient care lab using tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, stainers and coverslippers;
• Cut and stain formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue samples for patient diagnosis;
• Prepare and change reagents and properly dispose of chemical wastes;
• Sort, deliver and file slides and blocks;
• Assist with ordering, receiving, labeling and stocking incoming supplies and reagents;
• Assist with quality control and quality assurance record keeping;
• Assist in training personnel as needed;
• Complete and organize paperwork;
• Assist with maintenance of equipment;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule

• 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
