Job summary

PIH Health is seeking a Lab Processing Clerk to support specimen processing in a busy hospital laboratory. The role requires accurate data entry, filing, and telephone communication as part of routine clerical work.

You will log received specimens, perform centrifugation, place orders, print reports, and report critical results promptly. The position involves patient registration and basic lab terminology, with emphasis on reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Knowledge of general lab test names preferred
• Six months of computer data processing or clerical experience
• Previous customer service experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Receive specimens and enter into the computer system.
• Centrifuge specimens as required by procedures.
• Order laboratory tests and print lab reports.
• Call and document critical result reporting.
• Fax patient results and answer telephone calls.
• Register patients and perform other clerical duties as needed

The Lab Processing Clerk performs specimen received in computer system, centrifuging specimens, laboratory test ordering, printing lab reports, calling and documenting critical result reporting, faxing patient results, answering telephone calls, patient registration, and other clerical duties as needed.

Minimum Salary
