Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of medical laboratory, clerical or secretarial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens from multiple locations and accurately inputs patient and test order data.
• Completes orders, creates labels and essential documentation.
• Verifies insurance information and assists with hospital registration and billing.
• Prepares specimens for shipments or courier to reference laboratory.
• Interacts with reference labs and physician offices to provide accurate information and good service.
• Maintains inventory of supplies to ensure lab workflow efficiency.
• Answers inquiries about lab results and test status.
• Runs reports, tracks outstanding tests, and supports lab efficiency improvements.
• Performs pre-analytical steps such as sorting, centrifuging, aliquoting, and list generation.
• Performs tests waived by CLIA and other agencies.
• Confirms specimens meet test requirements.
