Responsibilities

• Receives specimens and documents patient/test orders.
• Verifies proper labeling with two patient identifiers, date and time of collection.
• Attaches labels from physician offices when necessary.
• Completes orders and essential documentation for billing.
• Prepares specimens for shipments to reference labs.
• Interacts with reference labs, physician offices, clinicians, and others to provide quality service.
• Performs pre-analytical steps such as sorting, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
• Answers phones and communicates test statuses to clinicians.
