Job summary

HGA is seeking an experienced Lab Planner to lead architectural lab programming and planning across government, workplace, and community markets from Milwaukee, WI. You will collaborate with principals, PMs, and designers to shape cutting‑edge research environments for corporate, government, and academic clients.

You will manage client relationships, develop flexible planning modules, and coordinate with MEP engineers to ensure code compliance and high quality work across multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Lab programming/planning experience with demonstrated client, team, and process management.
  • LEED AP certification preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients/users to develop or validate program requirements for lab facilities.
  • Develop space programs and planning diagrams for high-tech labs.
  • Collaborate with project team on planning facilities and service distribution concepts.
  • Prepare documentation of laboratory systems and casework to create next‑generation settings.
  • Participate in multiple projects, including fee management and quality control.
  • Support marketing efforts through proposals and presentations.
  • Build trusting client relationships and share knowledge on lab programming.
  • Lead collection and organization of client requirements and ensure code compliance with EHS approaches.
  • Collaborate with MEP engineering to coordinate building systems for compliance.
  • Coordinate procurement of consultants to support various project types.
