Job summary
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Chicago seeks an Associate Architect/Lab Planner to lead programming and planning for advanced laboratory facilities, translating client needs into comprehensive design concepts.
The role requires strong collaboration with clients, architects, and engineers, with expertise in lab planning, BIM (Revit/AutoCAD), and design documentation. A hybrid work model is offered with travel expectations for domestic projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or science.
- 5+ years in architectural design with focus on technical/lab facilities.
- Experience across design documentation, client relations, consultant coordination and construction.
- Experience with laboratory types (cleanroom, vivarium, bio-containment, research, pharmaceutical).
Responsibilities
- Provide technical knowledge in laboratory planning and programming.
- Lead planning for laboratory facilities including MEP integration and casework.
- Translate client needs into planning concepts for design teams.
- Develop project scopes, budgets and milestones with project managers.
