Location: St Mary's Hospital

PRN hours vary from 1 am to 3:30 pm

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lab Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and other specimen collection tasks. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, order entry, result look-up, report generation, and specimen receiving and preparation. They also answer phones and forward issues to the appropriate areas.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs specimen collection procedures (nasal, oropharyngeal, venipuncture, etc.)
• Enters orders
• Performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting
• Generates reports
• Provides basic customer service

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
• High School/GED (required)
• 1 year phlebotomy experience (preferred)
• Basic phlebotomy training (preferred)
