Job summary

Labcorp, a global leader in laboratory services, seeks a Clinical Laboratory Team Leader to join our Durham, NC facility. You will oversee daily department operations, mentor staff, and ensure accurate, timely test results in a high-volume setting. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a science field, 4+ years of lab testing experience, and familiarity with lab automation and NGS.

ASCP/AMT certification is a plus. Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Previous experience with lab automation and NGS.
• Proficiency in computing and internet skills, including use of in-house and online databases and browsers, and Excel and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Department/Lab Name department.
• Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management.
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees.
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Team Leader to join our team at our facility in Durham, NC.

Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• Previous experience with lab automation and NGS
• Proficiency in computing and internet skills, including use of in-house and online databases and browsers, and Excel and Adobe

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP and/or AMT Certifications
• 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
• Previous experience with molecular diagnostic methods, including cfDNA isolation, Hamilton Automation, and Illumina Sequencers

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
• training to be completed on a different schedule
