Job summary

Texas A&M University-Victoria information technology department seeks a Supervisor for Computer Labs to organize staff, direct lab operations, and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues. Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of computer hardware, software, and related networks and peripherals.
• Analytical ability to identify and troubleshoot computer issues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with faculty, staff, and students.
• Supervisory skills to supervise student workers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills to coordinate lab activities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and act upon decisions within scope of delegated authority.
• Proficiency with automated software and hardware systems.
• Proficiency with PC software applications in a Windows environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedules computer lab staff and provides work direction to ensure continuous lab operations; schedules and coordinates lab activities.
• Analyzes and resolves computer hardware and software problems that cannot be resolved by computer lab staff.
• Coordinates computer lab resources for virtual academic instruction.
• Oversees the maintenance and repair of computer equipment and peripherals; and installation, maintenance, and upgrades of computer software.
• Mentors and trains computer lab assistants.
• Identifies, analyzes, and solves customer issues.
• Develops manuals and documentation processes for computer lab operations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
