Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II for the Outreach Lab Sunset in Clearwater, FL. This part-time role involves collecting and processing specimens, coordinating with nursing and physicians, and performing phlebotomy.

On-site daytime shifts with occasional weekend work offer opportunities to contribute to a broad patient-care team. The ideal candidate has at least 6 months of phlebotomy or laboratory experience, a high school diploma, and a driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory experience required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Driver's license required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interact with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing




• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens




• Referring specimens to outside laboratories




• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests




• Performance of phlebotomy procedures




• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience:

• Required - 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education:

• Required High School or equivalent




• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials:

• Driver's License

Credential equivalent experience:

• Preferred Phlebotomy
