Sonora Quest Laboratories/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona is seeking a Blood Bank Laboratory Manager who thrives under pressure and leads with precision. You will direct a 24/7 Blood Bank team and champion accreditation excellence.

In this role you will ensure high‑quality transfusion services, partner with providers, and drive adherence to AABB, CAP and CLIA standards while building a crisis‑ready, skilled staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Four (4) years of training and experience in high-complexity testing in the respective specialty.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops, directs and manages operational activities within the laboratory to effectively meet objectives.
• Directly supervise exempt technical staff as well as non-exempt clinical staff.
• Hire, train, conducts performance evaluations, and manage staff workload and performance.

In addition, this position may be eligible for our Management or Sales Incentive Programs as part of your Total Rewards package.**POSITION SUMMARY** This position develops, directs and manages operational activities within the laboratory to effectively meet Company objectives.*Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.***SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES****DIRECTLY REPORTING** Typically provides direct supervision to both exempt technical staff as well as non-exempt clinical staff.**MATRIX OR INDIRECT REPORTING**May include matrix reporting as part of role.**TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and manages the workflow for staff. This includes initiating promotions, transfers, and performance management activities.**SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY** Administrative responsibility of providing quality, timely, reliable and consistent services. Internal and external customers include laboratory staff and clients, hospital staff, physician’s offices, patients, pathologists, medical directors, vendors, regulatory agencies and educational facilities.Confers with director to determine how to best accomplish functions within established procedures and guidelines including FTE’s and expense budgets. Confers with director for unusual situations.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS**Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids. Needs adequate color vision. Requires significant use of computer, phone and general office equipment. Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects. Ability to communicate effectively.
