Laboratory Sciences of Arizona seeks a skilled supervisor to oversee laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality, timely services in compliance with regulatory standards. The role directs exempt technical and non-exempt clinical staff, hires and trains personnel, and manages performance and workflow within established policies.
The position requires a Bachelor’s in a laboratory science field, plus several years in high-complexity testing and supervisory experience.
This position develops, directs and manages operational activities within the laboratory to effectively meet Company objectives. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
DIRECTLY REPORTING Typically provides direct supervision to both exempt technical staff as well as non-exempt clinical staff.
MATRIX OR INDIRECT REPORTING May include matrix reporting as part of role.
Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and manages the workflow for staff. This includes initiating promotions, transfers, and performance management activities.
Administrative responsibility of providing quality, timely, reliable and consistent services. Internal and external customers include laboratory staff and clients, hospital staff, physician’s offices, patients, pathologists, medical directors, vendors, regulatory agencies and educational facilities. Confers with director to determine how to best accomplish functions within established procedures and guidelines including FTE’s and expense budgets. Confers with director for unusual situations.
Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids. Needs adequate color vision. Requires significant use of computer, phone and general office equipment. Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects. Ability to communicate effectively. May require off-site travel.
Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology. Four (4) years’ training and experience in high-complexity testing in the respective specialty. Two (2) years’ supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science. MLS or Specialty Certification. Additional related education and/or experience.
