Lab Manager - San Jose Campus

Location: Analog Devices - San Jose, CA

Scope: Oversight of engineering laboratories across the San Jose campus

Position Summary

Analog Devices is seeking a Site Lab Manager to oversee the organization, infrastructure, and operational standards of engineering laboratories across the San Jose campus. This role ensures that labs operate efficiently, safely, and consistently while supporting engineering productivity. Responsibilities include standardized bench configurations, equipment procurement coordination, component inventory management, lab storage organization, and shared engineering resources. Manage the Customer Co-Creation Space shared lab and maker space infrastructure used for customer collaboration and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

Site-Wide Lab Operations and Standards

Develop and enforce consistent laboratory standards across all engineering labs, including bench organization, cable management, labeling conventions, ESD practices, and safety procedures. Maintain clean, organized, and efficient lab environments. Document lab procedures and coordinate layout changes, relocations, and infrastructure improvements.

Standardized Lab Bench Configurations

Define and maintain standard engineering workbench setups to improve efficiency and reduce equipment duplication. Coordinate deployment of standard equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters, and function generators. Maintain documentation for standard bench configurations and manage lifecycle upgrades and replacements.

Equipment Procurement and Vendor Management

Coordinate purchasing of lab equipment across the campus to leverage volume pricing and vendor discounts. Maintain relationships with key equipment vendors and recommend standard equipment platforms. Support equipment lifecycle planning and procurement for new labs or expansions.

Asset Tracking and Calibration Coordination

Coordinate with the centralized calibration team to ensure laboratory equipment is properly registered, tracked, and scheduled for calibration through the IndySoft system. Assist with maintaining accurate equipment location information across labs and support the development and implementation of a QR code-based system to simplify equipment identification, location tracking, and access to calibration records.

Central Component Store Management

Manage a centralized component inventory for commonly used engineering parts including resistors, capacitors, connectors, cables, hardware, and evaluation boards. Coordinate bulk purchasing and implement inventory tracking and restocking systems to ensure quick access to frequently used components.

Lab Storage and Inventory Organization

Develop standardized storage systems across labs to organize equipment, fixtures, cables, evaluation boards, and spare parts. Implement consistent labeling and storage practices to improve accessibility and prevent unnecessary duplication of materials.

Co-Creation Space Support

Maintain shared prototyping resources such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, soldering stations, and rework tools. Ensure maker space labs remain operational and well stocked with consumables. Help support the BU demo setups. Coordinate the customer scheduling.

Facilities Coordination

Serve as the primary liaison between engineering labs and facilities teams. Coordinate infrastructure requirements including power distribution, HVAC, networking, lab furniture, and installation of specialized equipment. Support lab renovations and expansions.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure all labs follow ESD protocols, electrical safety standards, and environmental health and safety policies. Coordinate safety inspections and maintain required documentation and procedures.
