Job summary

A leading life sciences company is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations and lead a team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, along with 3–5 years of laboratory experience and proven leadership skills. Job description

Overview

TCI is seeking an experienced Lab Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations and lead a team supporting microbiological and chemical testing within our Research & Development function. This role is critical to ensuring testing accuracy, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and the continued development of our laboratory team.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, proven people leadership, and a hands-on approach to managing laboratory workflows in a regulated environment. This role partners closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to support product development and ensure laboratory excellence from sample receipt through reporting.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM (Onsite)

Salary: $90,000 - $115,000/annually

Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee all daily laboratory activities and workflows
  • Ensure testing is conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with internal protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and organizational regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO, FDA, GLP/GMP, as applicable)
  • Ensure proper sample handling, storage, documentation, and chain of custody
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate laboratory staff
  • Lead hiring and onboarding of new lab team members
  • Support ongoing training, knowledge sharing, and professional development within the lab
  • Foster a safety-focused, quality-driven, and collaborative lab culture

Testing, Equipment & Documentation

  • Assign appropriate tests and ensure accurate, timely reporting of results
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
  • Keep detailed equipment records, lab logs, and testing documentation
  • Utilize LIMS and standard computer applications to support reporting and data integrity
  • Stay current on scientific advancements, industry best practices, and emerging laboratory technologies
  • Identify opportunities to improve lab processes, efficiency, and data integrity
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field (advanced degree preferred)
  • 3–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role
  • Demonstrated experience managing lab personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices, quality control procedures, and sample handling protocols
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks in laboratory environments
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with LIMS and standard computer applications (Excel, Word, email)
