Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke seeks an Instrument Maintenance Technician to support the Biology, Chemistry and Physics departments. You will maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair scientific instruments used in teaching labs, undergraduate research, and faculty scholarship.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a scientific/engineering field.
• Experience maintaining, calibrating or repairing lab equipment.
• Knowledge of lab safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on lab instrumentation.
• Maintain service records, logs and inventories.
• Coordinate service calls and vendor support.
• Assist with installation and validation of new instruments.
• Train faculty, staff and students on equipment operation and safety.
• Support instructional labs and research by ensuring equipment readiness.
• Recommend maintenance and upgrade priorities.
