Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a 1P Systems Lab Technical Program Manager in San Francisco to build and scale world-class lab environments for hardware development. You’ll drive lab strategy, manage cross-functional teams, and work with contractors to deliver new sites on schedule.

You’ll bring lab and datacenter construction knowledge to influence design decisions, ensure high-quality scalability, and collaborate with AI researchers and engineers across the hardware roadmap.

Qualifications

• Experience leading lab or datacenter design programs from site selection to completion.
• Knowledge of data center infrastructure including servers, GPUs, networking, and storage.
• Experience taking products from concept to volume in a data center environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end Lab strategy ensuring capacity and capabilities align with product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with external general contractors to develop and deliver new Lab facilities on schedule.
• Influence Lab design through trade-offs with internal and external partners using technical knowledge.
• Oversee ongoing lab availability to support product bring-up, debugging, and development work.
• Coordinate and lead internal resources and communications with partners and vendors.
