Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a Laboratory Hazardous Material and Waste Specialist to serve as the laboratory HM/HW coordinator and focal point for AFCEC operations at Tyndall Air Force Base. The role manages chemical inventory, labeling, storage, inspections, databases, and training for compliant disposal of hazardous materials and waste.

This position requires extensive HM/HW experience, DoD/ESOH training, and the ability to coordinate with ESOSH personnel, regulators, and contractors to maintain CHP

Qualifications

• High school diploma with technical training equivalent to an Associate's degree (Associate's preferred)
• Minimum 10 years' experience in a chemical-related field handling HM/HW
• NACI; DoD CAC; valid state driver's license; U.S. person only

Responsibilities

• Comply with all HM/HW requirements for hazardous materials in a laboratory setting; serve as the HM/HW coordinator and focal point.
• Obtain required training to execute HM manager, HW monitor, and IAP manager duties; conduct in-house inspections.
• Ensure CHP compliance and review/update the Chemical Hygiene Plan as needed.
• Provide technical guidance to avoid EPA, Florida DEP, and OSHA findings; communicate regulations to laboratory personnel.
• Maintain HM inventories and labeling; manage chemical bench stock and annual inventory.
• Manage IAPs, coordinate waste removal with ESOH personnel and HW contractors; support recycling programs.
