The Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) is a research and development organization within the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. PSL develops instrumentation solutions used in scientific research programs worldwide.

The Custodian position at UW–Madison’s Physical Sciences Laboratory maintains a clean, safe, and professional environment for employees, researchers, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Stand for long periods.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Experience in custodial duties in a research/laboratory setting is preferred.
• Experience safely operating custodial and grounds-maintenance equipment (floor scrubbers, lawn mowers, snow blowers).

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, laboratories, shop spaces, restrooms, hallways and common areas.
• Remove waste and recycling; restock supplies.
• Document repairs, violations and pest control needs; report issues.
• Maintain organization of supply areas and equipment; track inventory and request supplies as needed.
