Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a full-time Transport Technician to drive and support courier routes. Shifts are 2pm-10pm with weekend and holiday rotation; requires valid Ohio driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to pass MV background checks and training.

You will maintain daily routes, pick up and deliver to labs, pharmacies, homecare, clinics and physician offices, and document route information.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use hospital systems.
• Ability to use hospital provided cell phone and communication tracking system.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain schedule to complete daily courier routes.

• Evaluate and monitor weather conditions to preplan anticipated trips and delays.

• Provide customer service to ensure satisfaction and quality patient care.

Job Description Summary

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and their clients. Drives NCH provided vehicles for courier routes, with exception to those positions defined in NCH courier procedures.

Essential Functions

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on‑demand routes daily.
• Handles pick‑ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers. Documents all route information and pick‑ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

Education Requirement

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement

Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
