Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a Transportation Courier to support the Department of Laboratory Medicine. You will drive NCH vehicles for courier routes and on-demand deliveries, maintaining routes, documenting pickups, and ensuring timely, accurate service to clinicians and patients.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid Ohio driver's license, and the ability to communicate effectively. Training and safety compliance are fundamental to daily operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with clean motor vehicle background.
• Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handle pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers.
• Document all route information and pickups per department guidelines.
• Evaluate and monitor weather conditions to preplan trips and delays.
• Maintain safety of cargo and vehicle per hospital guidelines.
• Assist in training of new staff and document their progress.

Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Essential Functions

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handles pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers. Documents all route information and pick-ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays throughout region.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

Education Requirement

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement

Valid Ohio driver’s license as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
