Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Lab Computing Support Specialist to ensure reliable, compliant lab systems across research, QA, and manufacturing in a regulated Life Sciences environment.

You will collaborate with lab scientists, QA, IT, and business stakeholders to maintain CSV, GxP, and data integrity, while supporting system validation, audits, and continuous improvement. This onsite role requires 5 days per week in a client office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, IT, Engineering, CS, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting laboratory systems in regulated Life Sciences environments.
  • Strong understanding of GxP, GLP, GMP, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on CSV, SDLC, and validation lifecycle experience.
  • Experience with lab software applications and instrument integration platforms.
  • Knowledge of laboratory workflows and instruments (HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers).
  • Experience with backup/recovery, patch management, and system maintenance.
  • Familiarity with ticketing/service management tools like ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira.
  • Experience with deviation/change control, CAPA, and audit support.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage lifecycle of laboratory systems from implementation to decommissioning.
  • Provide technical support for lab software, instrument integration platforms, and instruments; troubleshoot issues.
  • Ensure compliance with GxP, GLP, GMP, CSV, and data integrity requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors for installations, maintenance, and service management.
  • Support audits, change management, deviation management, CAPA, and continuous improvement.

Job description

As a Lab Computing Support Specialist, you will make an impact by ensuring the reliability, compliance, and operational excellence of laboratory systems that support research, quality, and manufacturing activities within a regulated Life Sciences environment. You will be a valued member of the Laboratory Informatics and IT team and work collaboratively with laboratory scientists, quality assurance, validation, infrastructure, application support, and business stakeholders to maintain compliant and efficient laboratory operations.

In this role, you will:
  • Manage the lifecycle of laboratory systems, including implementation, validation, maintenance, upgrades, patching, backup, archival, and decommissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support for laboratory software systems, instrument integration platforms, and analytical instruments while troubleshooting software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
  • Partner with laboratory, QA, and IT teams to ensure compliance with GxP, GLP, GMP, Computer System Validation (CSV), and data integrity requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system installations, maintenance, upgrades, issue resolution, and service management while ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Support audits, inspections, change management, deviation management, CAPA activities, documentation updates, and continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory systems.

What you need to have to be considered
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting laboratory systems within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated Life Sciences environments.
  • Strong understanding of GxP, GLP, GMP, data integrity principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer System Validation (CSV), SDLC, and validation lifecycle activities.
  • Experience supporting laboratory software applications, analytical instruments, and instrument integration platforms.
  • Knowledge of laboratory workflows and familiarity with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, or similar laboratory technologies.
  • Experience with user administration, backup and recovery processes, software upgrades, patch management, and system maintenance activities.
  • Working knowledge of ticketing and service management tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with deviation management, change control, CAPA processes, and audit support activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, technical documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience supporting regulated laboratory environments within pharmaceutical research, development, manufacturing, or quality operations.
  • Knowledge of Computer System Validation deliverables and regulatory frameworks including FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, and CSV best practices.
  • Experience supporting laboratory system onboarding, offboarding, configuration management, and data archival processes.
  • Experience participating in regulatory inspections, audit readiness activities, and remediation programs.
  • Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, or other IT service management and workflow platforms.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Exposure to automation, AI-enabled support solutions, or digital transformation initiatives in laboratory operations.
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $80,000 - $105,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
