Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a laboratory support team member to receive and process requisitions and specimens, and to order specified lab tests in accordance with standard procedures. You will respond to phone requests and enter lab test data into the computer, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with associates degree preferred, and MLA certification preferred; strong communication and keyboarding skills

Qualifications

• MLA certification from ASCP or AMT preferred.
• Previous work experience strongly preferred.
• Keyboarding speed of 40 wpm preferred.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or GED required.

Education preferred:

Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology preferred.

License, certification and/or registration:

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred

Experience:

Previous work experience strongly preferred. Keyboarding experience, 40 wpm preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Candidate must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, customer service oriented environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Able to work in a high stress environment with little/no downtime. Must be able to work in a team setting and maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in patient identification process. Position may require flexibility related to the end of shift as shift end time may vary with workload.
