Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to obtain blood specimens from patients and deliver them to the laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate processing. You will correctly identify patients and specimens and maintain strict specimen handling protocols in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred.
• Associates Degree with biology and chemistry coursework preferred.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality in handling patient information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accurate patient/ specimen identification.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or GED required.

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process. Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
