Job summary

Amide Technologies, a Massachusetts-based biotech company in Waltham, seeks a hands-on software engineer to build the automation and scientific software layer connecting lab execution to an AI/ML platform.

You will design, implement, and maintain automation for peptide synthesis, biologics workflows, and data capture, while integrating instruments and data systems to keep outputs traceable and model-ready.

Qualifications

• Software Engineer with hands-on experience in lab automation and scientific software development.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, JavaScript or relevant automation languages.
• Experience with liquid handlers, robotics, laboratory instruments, and scheduling software.
• Experience integrating ELN, LIMS, databases, APIs, instrument files or scientific data platforms.
• Ability troubleshoot hardware, software, data flows and user workflows.
• Experience working in matrixed teams of scientists, engineers and operations colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain automation systems for peptide synthesis, biologics workflows, assay execution and data capture.
• Program, troubleshoot and optimize lab automation hardware and software.
• Integrate lab instruments, ELN, LIMS, databases and internal data services for traceable outputs.
• Build tools to standardize data capture and accelerate analysis.
• Collaborate with assay analytics, platform and AI/ML teams to support design-build-test-learn cycles.
• Evaluate vendors and integration partners while documenting laboratory requirements.
