Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Co-op for the TDS Proteins CEAS Automation team in Spring House, PA. The six‑month program (Jan to Jun 2027) is a full-time, on-site role designed to blend software development with laboratory automation and scientific research.

You will transform scheduling platforms, integrate instruments, and develop modular automation software while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate freshman at an accredited university.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a relevant field (CS, bioengineering, biomedical, mechanical, electrical, biology, chemistry, etc.).
• GPA of 3.0 or higher required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with automation and software teams to modularize scheduling platforms.
• Characterize lab workcells and integration needs.
• Develop and test software modules enabling instrument-automation integration.
• Configure scheduling logic for varied instrument combinations.
• Test end-to-end automated workflows for reliability.
• Support architecture and development of modular automation software.
• Apply Python to software development and system integration.
• Gain hands-on experience with full-stack automation software.
• Analyze results using analytical methods and statistics.
• Participate in technical discussions, experimental design, and problem solving.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners and attend project meetings.
• Maintain technical documentation and project records.

Education

Undergraduate freshman year requirement
