Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a Lab Associate to support patient care and operations at Washington University Medical Center in Missouri. This full-time role follows a 12:00 PM–8:30 PM evening shift, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends.

You will perform specimen collection, phlebotomy, and specimen handling, plus potential duties in central processing, off-campus centers, or office phlebotomy, while maintaining specimen integrity and coordinating tasks to meet turnaround times.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Phlebotomy and basic lab skills beneficial.
• BLS certification may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in the appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy with proper patient identification and specimen integrity.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and handle all specimens carefully.
• Coordinate a series of tasks, including STAT orders and workload fluctuations, to meet turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
