Job summary

Alton Memorial Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a PRN Lab Associate I with phlebotomy experience for hospital-based specimen collection and processing.

The role requires flexibility to work a minimum of four shifts in eight weeks and at least one weekend shift every six weeks, plus one holiday per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior lab experience required, but phlebotomy exposure preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification not specified; BLS is listed as a certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy with proper patient identification and specimen integrity.
• Coordinate tasks to meet STAT orders and workload fluctuations.
• Interact with lab, clinical teams and other departments to ensure timely processing.

Alton Memorial Hospital has a PRN Lab Associate I opportunity. Looking for a lab tech with phlebotomy experience to work in a hospital setting.

• PRN (as-needed) team members are expected to work on an as-needed basis.
• Must be available to work a minimum of four (4) shifts within an eight-week period.
• Must work at least one (1) weekend shift during each six-week scheduling period.
• Must work a minimum of one (1) recognized holiday per calendar year.

Overview

Role Purpose

Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
