Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is seeking a Lab Associate I for our high-volume outpatient laboratory. You will support daily operations, perform phlebotomy, and help maintain quality and patient experience in a fast-paced setting.

Lab Associate I

Looking for a laboratory opportunity with a great schedule, strong team environment, and work-life balance? Join our high-volume outpatient laboratory as a Lab Associate I!

In this role, you’ll support daily laboratory operations while providing a positive experience for patients and helping the team keep things running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

• Perform phlebotomy in a high-volume outpatient setting
• Transcribe paper orders accurately
• Stock and maintain laboratory supplies
• Support the team with day-to-day laboratory operations

Schedule

• Monday–Friday | 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
• No regularly scheduled weekends
• Paid on-call coverage approximately 2–3 weekends per year
• Only one holiday per calendar year

• Previous experience is required
• Phlebotomy experience
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-volume outpatient laboratory
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
