Job summary

Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls is seeking a Lab Assistant to collect and process blood samples and other specimens, ensure proper patient identification and labeling, and report results back to providers. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or higher, BLS certification, and phlebotomy training or experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher; BLS certification required.
• Phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must read and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Proficiency in collecting correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
• Follows hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to laboratory.
• Knowledge of ordering, stocking and rotating laboratory supplies.
• Ensure patients receive appropriate competent and quality clinical care and customer service meets patient’s expectation.
• Maintains strict quality control for procedures.
• Organize requisitions received for collection, maintains records of tests performed; scanning orders and lab results into EMR and printing/faxing lab reports.
• Orientes and mentors new staff members.
• Shows excellent customer service on phone and in person to anyone that enters the laboratory.
