Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a Lab Assistant to support multiple laboratory departments by assisting technical staff with collection, processing, analysis and reporting of tests essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

You will perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks for a wide age range, verify specimens, log data in the LIS, and help maintain accurate turnaround and quality standards in a collaborative hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks by age group.
• Accept specimens and manage add-on orders per procedures.
• Identify patients and specimens with two identifiers.
• Register and log specimens in LIS and document tests.
• Support laboratory operations and maintain safety and quality standards.
• Operate LIS to support data entry and workflow.
• Restock supplies and participate in team projects.
