- Description
Coordinate the daily operations andutilizationof the nursing skills lab inprovidinggeneral supervision, resources, and support for students,facultyand staff.
- Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare lab supplies and equipment. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials for classroom, practice areas in lab, and testing areas. Perform routine operational checks on equipment in skills lab, including manikins, computers, and medical equipment. Ensure the lab meets all applicable safety rules and regulations and maintains appropriate documentation.
- Manage lab resources i.e. ordering supplies, equipment, and materials and maintaining appropriate stock levels and inventory records. Make recommendations for the replacement, selection and purchase of equipment, software and supplies as well as the review, communication and auction of surplus inventory items. Contact vendors for service or repair.
- Coordinate the lending of lab equipment, supplies, and materials to students, faculty and staff. Oversee, maintain, and control references and resources, testing materials, and other instructional resources.
- Explain, demonstrate and operate lab equipment and audio-visual equipment. Assist students in finding, using, and understanding a variety of instructional materials appropriate for individualized assignments. Provide a supportive, encouraging, and non-threatening practice environment for nursing students.
- Maintain a system of records of student achievement, progress and test results and generate a variety of reports. Write lab expenditure summary at end of year. Include cost analysis.
- Schedule use of lab for clinical and didactic instruction, testing, continuing education courses, workshops, and other events ensuring lab times are available and communicated and appropriately resourced.
- Install and upgrade instructional software on microcomputer.
- Orient new staff, faculty, and students to the philosophy, learning activities, procedures and policies of the nursing skills lab. Train, schedule and oversee student workers assisting in the nursing skills lab and provide feedback to Associate Dean. Maintain and update student worker training manual.
- Maintain current professional knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
- Support College managers in quality and process improvement activities. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.
- Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with the use of computers and computer assisted instruction; basic clerical and computer software skills using software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment
- Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening for interaction with faculty and staff levels, students, and external vendors
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of audio-visual equipment and lab equipment
- Ability to attend to detailed work, maintaining a high level of accuracy; ability to understand and use technical manuals and communicate with technology experts to solve hardware and software problems
- Ability to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:- High school degree or equivalent.

Position Information
This position is a Part-time position working 29 hours per week. Position is not eligible for benefits.
Hours
Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday. Primarily located at WCTC's Waukesha Campus.
Please note: This position may involve transporting materials between campus locations. Therefore, candidates should have a valid Wisconsin driver's license and/or reliable means of transportation that allows for travel between campuses, if needed.
