Job summary

Labcorp in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Lab Assistant for the night shift (Tue–Sat, 3:00 am–11:30 am) with required overtime. You will receive and sort specimens, prepare them for testing, and ensure data accuracy and equipment readiness while maintaining safety standards.

Preferred candidates have 1+ year in a lab or manufacturing setting and familiarity with automated plating systems, plus strong attention to detail and reliable data entry. This role supports high-volume diagnostic workflows.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens.
  • Accurate identification of specimens.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with tight turn-around times.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure lab equipment is functioning and perform minor maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot specimen-related issues as needed.
  • Replenish test bench supplies and maintain cleanliness.
  • Complete logs and administrative duties.
  • Follow SOPs to ensure safety and quality.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.

Work Schedule: Night Shift, Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00 am - 11:30 am. Required overtime based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
  • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualification
  • One or more years of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
  • One or more years of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
  • One year or more of previous experience plating specimen samples using the WASP or similar automated microbiology plating systems.

  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Able to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times

  • Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able pass a standardized color blindness test
