Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required; CAP surveyors may require different requirement.
• Two years of college science courses preferred.
• Two years relevant experience as a phlebotomist or specimen processor or certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens accurately and safely to ensure timely test results.
• Enter patient information into the computer system accurately.
• Perform accessioning, sorting, labeling and storage of specimens.
• Communicate specimen requirements with hospital staff and respond to requests.
• Maintain compliance with turnaround time expectations and protocols.
• Perform routine maintenance and manage supplies and equipment.
