Job summary

Unio Health Partners in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Lab Assistant II to perform advanced laboratory tasks, operate complex instruments, and support researchers.

You will handle samples, analyze data, mentor junior staff, and help maintain safety and quality standards in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

  • Significant laboratory experience, preferably in a research or specialized laboratory environment.
  • 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of CDPH, CLIA, CAP, and State and Federal laws that apply to a moderate to high complexity laboratory.
  • Knowledge of blood borne pathogen and bio-hazardous waste procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced laboratory tests, specimen staining, embedding and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and generate detailed reports.
  • Handle and process sensitive and high-value samples with proper preservation and storage.
  • Assist in budget planning and procurement of specialized materials.
  • Contribute to safety guideline development and compliance.
  • Train and mentor junior lab assistants on techniques and procedures.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration tasks.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lab Assistant II is a senior-level position within the laboratory, responsible for performing advanced laboratory tasks and providing critical support to researchers, scientists, and other laboratory personnel. This role involves complex laboratory procedures, equipment operation, data analysis, and leadership in maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment

Schedule: Monday - Friday 2pm - 10:30pm

What you will be doing
Advanced Laboratory Procedures:

  • Conduct advanced laboratory tests, and specimen staining, embedding and procedures with minimal supervision.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex laboratory instruments and equipment.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and results, providing detailed reports to researchers and scientists.
Sample Handling and Processing:
  • Handle and process sensitive and high-value samples, ensuring proper preservation and storage.
Inventory Management:
  • Assist in budget planning and procurement of specialized materials.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Contribute to the development and updating of safety guidelines.
Training and Mentorship:
  • Train and mentor junior lab assistants and provide guidance on laboratory techniques and procedures.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration tasks.
What you will bring to the team
  • Associate of Science degree in a scientific field or related discipline.
  • Significant laboratory experience, preferably in a research or specialized laboratory environment.
  • 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience, proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of current blood borne pathogen and bio-hazardous waste procedures as they apply to the duties of this position.
  • Knowledge of CDPH, CLIA, CAP, and State and Federal laws that apply to the duties of this position in a moderate to high complexity laboratory.
