Job summary

Unio Health Partners is seeking a Laboratory Assistant I in Pasadena to support the laboratory team with specimen handling, equipment preparation, and data recording. The role emphasizes maintaining a clean, safe lab environment and assisting researchers and pathologists with experiments and data collection.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of lab experience, understand clinical lab operations, and are familiar with HIPAA and medical terminology.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a laboratory or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical lab operations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and properly store specimens according to established protocols.
  • Prepare samples for analysis (centrifugation, aliquoting, dilution).
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments for tests.
  • Maintain accurate records in notebooks or databases.
  • Monitor and replenish laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Provide assistance to Lab Manager, Researchers and Pathologist during experiments and data collection.
  • Assist in inventory tracking and ordering of materials.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Assistant I is a vital member of the laboratory team, responsible for providing support and assistance in various laboratory activities. This role involves preparing and maintaining equipment, handling specimens and samples, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory environment. The Laboratory Assistant I plays a crucial role in contributing to the success of ongoing research and experiments.

Hours: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM -10:30 PM
What you will be doing
  • Receive, label, andproper storespecimens and samples according to established protocols.
  • Prepare samples for analysis, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and dilution asrequired.
  • Verification of insurance coverage for specimen processing.
  • Equipment Preparation
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment for experiments and tests.
  • Ensure that equipment is clean and in working order, reporting any issues to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping
  • Record and organize data, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks or computer databases.
  • Maintainaccurateand detailed records for the specimens.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and replenish laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents as needed.
  • Assistin inventory tracking and ordering of laboratory materials.
  • Provide assistance toLab Manager,ResearchersandPathologistin conducting experiments, tests, and data collection.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
What you will bring to the team
  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a laboratory or similar work experience
  • Knowledge of clinical lab technical understanding
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD and CPT coding
