Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence - East Campus Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to perform routine technical and clerical duties, including phlebotomy and specimen handling. This full-time role offers opportunities to work with advanced technology in a supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities include specimen receipt, registration and billing, waived testing, and assisting microbiology processing.

Qualifications

• Education must include high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: completion of a phlebotomy program.
• Required: phlebotomy certification where state law requires.
• Experience: 1 year of laboratory experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program.
• Preferred: basic lab information system experience.

• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.

The Laboratory Assistant II performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Completion of a phlebotomy program

Experience:

• Required: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
• Preferred: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience

Certifications:

• Required: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires
• Preferred: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
