Job summary

AdventHealth in Wauchula, FL is seeking a laboratory assistant/phlebotomy-support role to perform staining, culture setup, and specimen handling. You will ensure accurate patient accounts, maintain supplies, and support clinical staff with a focus on safety and quality control.

The position requires phlebotomy skills, basic computer literacy, and excellent customer service. Training and compliance with biosafety and PPE policies are provided.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Mature judgment and ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with specimen collection and processing.
• Prepare and set up primary specimen cultures and related tasks.
• Clean and disinfect equipment and spaces; maintain inventory.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and safety protocols.
• Provide customer service support and education to staff.
• Handle PPE, handwashing, and hazardous materials per policy.
• Operate and document within the Transfusion Information System.
