Job summary

Sharp HealthCare in California is seeking a Laboratory Assistant I to perform specimen collection, handling and transport, and clerical lab support. The position requires CPT certification (I or II) or equivalent education, with preferred related life science education and at least some lab experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• California CPT II or CPT I certification is required/preferred as stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture and capillary sticks.
• Process and transport specimens; assist in various laboratory sections.
• Enter tests in LIS and coordinate with nursing units and physicians as needed.
• Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies; assist in instrument maintenance.
