Job summary

Unio Health Partners is seeking a Lab Assistant I to join our laboratory team. You will assist with preparing and maintaining equipment, handling specimens, and supporting daily lab activities. Hours: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.

The role includes data entry, inventory management, and collaboration with Lab Manager, Researchers, and Pathologist to support experiments. Qualified candidates have at least a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of lab experience, with knowledge of HIPAA,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a laboratory or similar.
  • Knowledge of clinical lab terminology and operations.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, ICD and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and properly store specimens and samples.
  • Prepare samples for analysis (centrifugation, aliquoting, dilution).
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Data entry and record keeping of results and observations.
  • Monitor inventory and assist in ordering lab materials.
  • Provide assistance to Lab Manager and researchers.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Assistant I is a vital member of the laboratory team, responsible for providing support and assistance in various laboratory activities. This role involves preparing and maintaining equipment, handling specimens and samples, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory environment. The Laboratory Assistant I plays a crucial role in contributing to the success of ongoing research and experiments.

Hours: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM -10:30 PM

What you will be doing
  • Receive, label, andproperly storespecimens and samples according to established protocols.
  • Prepare samples for analysis, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and dilution asrequired.
  • Verification of insurance coverage for specimen processing.
  • Equipment Preparation
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment for experiments and tests.
  • Ensure that equipment is clean and in working order, reporting any issues to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping
  • Record and organize data, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks or computer databases.
  • Maintainaccurateand detailed records for the specimens.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and replenish laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents as needed.
  • Assistin inventory tracking and ordering of laboratory materials.
  • Provide assistance toLab Manager,ResearchersandPathologistin conducting experiments, tests, and data collection.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
What you will bring to the team
  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a laboratory or similar work experience
  • Knowledge of clinical lab technical understanding
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD and CPT coding
