Job description

Work Schedule:

60% FTE, day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Hours may vary based on operational needs. Location: UW Health 20 S Park Street Clinic.

Pay:

  • Potential up to a $1,500 sign-on bonus for external hires (pro-rated based on FTE).

We are seeking a Lab Assistant - Float to:

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy on patients of all ages, ensuring proper identification and specimen labeling.
  • Handle specimen receiving, processing, loading onto instruments, kit testing, and maintenance activities like monitoring reagents and temperature, along with clerical duties such as filing, mailing, and faxing.
  • Manage patient check-in and order entry of lab tests in the laboratory information system.
  • Collaborate daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing personnel, and patients.

Education:

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training program with clinical rotation.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum: Six months of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in phlebotomy and processing.

Certifications:

  • Minimum: None specified.
  • Preferred: Phlebotomist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent, or Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification.
