Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician to organize specimen collection requests and perform patient specimen collection procedures. The role supports pre-analytic processes and testing under established standards.

The position involves varied shifts (days/evenings/nights) with weekend and holiday rotation, and an on-call component. An associate degree or 1 year of lab experience is required, with a $1,500 sign-on bonus and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree or 1 year related laboratory experience.
• Must be able to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimens from patients according to established standards.
• Labels, transports or stores collected specimens following Lean principles and standard work.
• Processes laboratory specimens including centrifuging, measuring, storing and distributing to testing areas.
• Performs patient registration and data entry for tests as required.
• Identifies routine specimen or test order problems for resolution.
• Performs point-of-care testing per established procedures.
