Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is hiring for an Histology Technician to perform standard histology procedures under supervision on the evening shift (2pm–10:30pm). A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 may be available with a 3-year commitment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histology techniques: embedding, cutting, staining, coverslipping, labeling, and case distribution.
• Process special histology/cytology specimens including biopsy preparation and immunohistochemical staining.
• Accession specimens into the computer system.
• Assist pathologists in gross examination of tissue specimens.
• Assist in obtaining bone marrow specimens when needed.
• Prepare frozen sections and intraoperative specimens as required.
• Assist with maintenance, filing, and reagent preparation.
• Support student teaching and quality improvement initiatives.
